For current events we had to choose an IT related article each week that interested us. I found this a very fun and interesting assignment as i learnt a lot more about the technological side of news. I quickly found out just how fast out society is creating new and exciting technological advancements. It was intrigueing to discover just how large a part technology plays in our lives now, for example i learnt just how many times we use technology in one day. Everything in our modern world is related to technology! One of my favorite parts of current events was the discussions that it sparked, we would have very in depth conversations ranging from the impact of facebook on our society to self diagnosis online. We would discuss the changes technology has on our society and just how rapidly our world is changing and evolving.

Summary: The article i read this week was about doctors using the popular social networking site calle Twitter to send out live footage of an out of the ordinary surgery. For the second time in history a social networking site was used to send out footage of a surgery, the chief of surgery in a hospital in Detroit used Twitter to send out live footage of a sugery.
Technology involved: The technology involved included a video recorder and a computer and the internet.
Stakeholders: The stakeholders would be the hospitals, and doctors as they could use this to their advantage.
How it will affect the stakeholders: It could be a great source of press for hospitals and could be a great way of sharing new surgical procedures and would then help hospitals all over the world, giving the medical world a whole new perspective and advancing our rate of saving lives.
How the negative effects could be moderated: There are no real negative effects, however if a surgery were to go badly whilst being recorded on Twitter it could cause bad press for the hospitals, however the video would most likely be sent out to other doctors, and should not reach the press.
My favorite article i read whilst working on my current events assignments were usually ones in which technology was connected to the real world, i found this interesting as it showed just how important technology is in our modern world. Through these assignments it became very clear to me that our world would be very difficult to live in without all the technology we have created, and that one day possibly very soon all this technology will exceed man kind.
